Employment Law Updates—From 2020
New legislation that will come into force on 6 April 2020 will require employers to provide the written statement of employment particulars re their contract from day one of employment.
As a result an employer must now provide a proper written statement of terms to the new employee either before or immediately on starting.
Best practice would be to provide an:
- offer letter; and
- employment contract.
This will allow workers to request a more stable and predictable contract and will provide clarity of the employment status test.
All employers need to make sure they are able to implement these changes and prepare accordingly to avoid unpleasant legal consequences.
